Fierce Fighting in Baghdad

Omar, blogging from Baghdad, reports that heavy clashes have broken out. Helicopters and F-18s part of the fight. He also says that Muqtada al Sadr's 'million man march' had a far smaller turnout than expected:

Speaking of the Sadrists' pitiful demonstrations. His aides were hoping to gather a million marchers for yesterday but all they could manage were less than ten thousands, that's even when they bussed people from Baghdad and Basra.

The Arabic-speaking al-Alam Iranian channel claims the number was "hundreds of thousands" but that's just al-Alam, other channels and the footage we saw all put the number between 5 and 10 thousand.

I had personally been to a demonstration of 10 thousands once and what I saw yesterday was definitely smaller.

1 "...Arabic-speaking al-Alam Iranian channel..."

Is there still anyone who doesn't believe the terrorist attacks in Iraq are for the most part a proxy war being conducted by the IRGC (Mullahcracy's ideological terrorist army)?

3 Rusty are there any links to other estimates of "less than ten thousands" ?
Google showed only one source saying 5-10 thousand. I am always a litlle skeptical of single source news stories.

4 John Ryan,

While I am sure that there are I cannot for the life of me understand why Rusty would piss on you if you were on fire let alone provide you with links to anything.

5 Funny how ABC News covered this pitiful demonstration as a 'consensus of the Iraqi people' and had a special report on it with special 'close up' shots (to make the crowd seem larger).

Yet a few years ago, wasn't there a demonstration across Iraq with numbers in the 100K - 1M 'real' people against terrorism and violence (not necessarily for the us...) which ABC News (and just about every other MSM media) totally ignored?

6 John Ryan, Are you coming around? I can see you have doubts and need to follow your intuition.
