Entire Global Military Spending Less Than U.S. Entitlements

The headline and story tries to convince the reader that the U.S. spends way too much on the military.

The United States spent $529 billion, slightly less than the entire GDP of the Netherlands, on military operations in 2006
Perspective. For another perspective, Rob Port reminds us that if you were to combine all military spending from every country on the planet, it still would be less than what the U.S. spends on entitlements in a single year.

1 So get rid of most entitlements.

2 Also keep in mind that entitlements and military spending combined are still only a part of the 40% that's left after the IRS manages to waste 60% of the revenues it collects. The sooner DC gets nuked, the sooner we can all be free again, and put things right.

3 Perhaps each of us should list what each of us is willing to give up in their own entitlements. Who here among the posters receives benefits from the evil people in Washington ?

John Ryan: Not me. I don't receive entitlements. In fact the government takes entitlements from me. For example: I should be entitled to put a foot in your ass. The government says I can't do that. I call that removing what I am entitled to do.

5 Our military is the reason we can tell all these busy body countries to pound sand.

6 Yep! And we had better start taking better care of it.

7 John can't play that card with me either. I am self employed and my success doesn't depend on anything from the government except them leaving me alone. I think our system would be a lot healthier if we went back to appreciating 'charity' instead of demanding entitlements. Charity is voluntary, and generous. Entitlements are the establishment of plundering success, to coddle failure. Harsh, but true. Lately, I'm not doing so good cash-wise, but I beleive I can change that. I am always willing to put extra cash into deserving charity when I have it, but I resent being told I have to give up my earnings to others who may only deserve a swift kick in the pants.                   USA, all the way!
