Dubai Ports Ship Stolen 4WD Vehicles

(Kelang, Malaysia) The theft of four-wheel drive vehicles by organized crime syndicates has been big business in Malaysia with buyers typically in Thailand and other southeast Asian nations. In the latest news, however, buyers in other destinations have emerged for the stolen 4WDs and transshipment is through the ports of Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

According to Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Rodwan Mohd Yusof:

"We believe the UAE is a point of transit before the stolen vehicles are shipped to new markets and this is said to include Afghanistan, Pakistan and Africa," he said.
In a recent bust, police recovered over 30 four-wheel drive vehicles in shipping containers destined for Dubai and transshipment to locations with, presumably, bad roads.

If the management controls over Dubai ports fail to prevent international trade in stolen, difficult to conceal, goods, one must wonder what other contraband makes it through. Also, is it logical to assume that the Dubai swag-movers are the same crowd that last year wanted to take over the operation of American ports?

2 I could steal things and ship them to "customers" by FedEx ... it doesn't make FedEx responsible to catch my shipment of stolen items.  Same with the port operator when it comes to cargo.  It isn't their job to fight crime and figure out if every piece of cargo is legit, that is the job of police and customs.  Generally you are pretty good but I think you blew it on this one.

The reason this is going through the Dubai ports is because it is the biggest cargo terminal on the route from source to destination.  Kind of like blaming Memphis Airport for stolen items someone might ship by FedEx.  In that case the airport isn't to blame for the cargo and in this case the cargo port isn't responsible to police shipments.  Their job is to load, unload, and refuel ships.

3 Or blameing the posts for what peole say. I went throught that with a hard core lib paper blaming the NRA for having some idiot post bomb instructions on thier chat room. The paper didn't even have an online section then because it knew it would NEVER lose sales to the net. They were far too important. Let me just say that it is everyones job to do what they are suppose to do. The problem is that the amount of money made is attatched to the value of the service. In fact, it is usually the exact opposite. Case in point, pro athletes, actors and preachers. Compare that to the obvious, fire fighters, police and ems people but take it one step further, bridge builders, elevator makers, haz mat labelers..... railroad warning sign light builders.... get my point? It comes down to the individual and then the company and then the port and then the nation. Too bad we don't have a way of pulling everyone together like that.... what about.... the opportunity to make something happen like they do in.... America? Chenney 08!
