Aux Barricades!

The latest pointless screed from Maureen Dowd :

President Bush has been dutifully making the rounds of TV news shows, trying to make the case that victory in Iraq is “doable.” He thinks the public will support the Surge if he can simply illuminate a few things that we may have been too thick to understand. For instance, he says he needs to “explain to people that what happens in the Middle East will affect the future of this country.” Yes, Mr. President, we get it.

He also told Jim Lehrer last night that in 20 years, radical Shiites could be warring with radical Sunnis and Middle Eastern oil could fall into the hands of radicals, who might also get weapons of mass destruction.

So after scaring Americans into backing the Sack of Iraq by warning that radicals could get W.M.D., now he’s trying to scare Americans into supporting the Surge in Iraq by warning that radicals could get W.M.D.

So many deaths, so little progress.

It’s unnerving to be tutored by an educator in chief who is himself being tutored. The president elucidating the Iraqi insurgency for us is learning about the Algerian insurgency from the man who failed to quell the Vietcong insurgency.

1 So much cleverness and wit, so little wisdom.  Alas, the Left.

2 What kind of foolishness are you talking about. I've had a few drinks and must be missing something here.

Good night guys. I am leaving in an hour to go fishing out of Venice, la. At last I have my two sons home at the same time. Scott wants to stop in the French Quarter for a few drinks on the way. Which means my youngest son with barf his guts out tomorrow. And yes when we go to New Orleans we are packing.

3 " . . . radical Shiites could be warring with radical Sunnis and Middle Eastern oil could fall into the hands of radicals, . . . "
--G.W. Bush [not the ventriloquist on this gig, but the --ah--forget it]

Could, yes it could, but in 20 years we also could be off gasoline to power cars, we could have seized the Saudi oil fields,  before the people that will finally get rid of the thousands of princelings and princessettes get their hands on them.

" . . . fall into the hands of radicals, who might also get weapons of mass destruction."
--GWB [mouth moving in cadence with the words]

These radicals are trying their darnest to get their hands on WMDs before 20 years are up.  Better think of something else as how to stop them.

4 The Saudis are at war with us, so maybe we should act like they are.   USA, all the way!

5 Can someone explain her comment about the vietcong. Last I heard they were practically anihilated during Tet in '68 and never were a viable force therafter.

6 Most of the NLF/Vietcong were killed during Tet. Hanoi never liked those guys much anyway so they were happy to get them out of the way. They were seen as competitors to power by Hanoi.

7 My 26 Marines never lost a battle. So how did we lose the war? We just got tired of supporting a people not worth supporting. The North Vietamese wanted to take our lives and the South Vietnamese wanted to take our money. I've never felt an obligation to those people.

8 Friggin Democrats are always using the war in Vietnam. Vietnam was a war the DEMOCRAT Kennedy got us into. The DEMOCRAT Johnson escalated. The REPUBLICAN Nixon got us out of. Friggin retards. Korea was the DEMOCRAT Truman. WW1 was a DEMOCRAT. WW2 was a DEMOCRAT. These wars cost the lives of hundreds of thousands of young Americans. Democrats are hypocritcal assholes.

10 I think he got his instructions from Nixon. Nixon had the ball rolling. It takes time.

11 Isn't dumbass Bush the one who fell all over himself kissing muslim
asses after 9/11, and who refuses to even pretend to notice the
invasion of our Southern border? The government has no legitimacy and
it's time for We the People to take matters into our own hands.
