I'm not Canadian, so I won't question their patriotism. However, I will continue to muse as to why they're willing to conduct sneak attacks in a bar rather than traveling to fight alongside their allies the Taliban in Afghanistan.

THIS BEING CANADA AND ALL, they will probably catch the bad guys, and find out why they did this. For all you BAR FIGHT VIRGINS, one very common reason why these things start, is a desire to challenge the toughest guy in the room. Drunken patrons challenge the bouncer, the big guy at the end of the bar, the biker who just walked in, etc. For some reason it's considered sound policy to gang up on this person, in order to somehow reinforce the notion that WE'RE TOUGHER THAN HIM. This does not seem to be just a release of inhibitions caused by alcohol, it could be changes in testosterone levels. Halifax is a tough bar town, lot's of Canadian Navy, other Navies, history of tough sailors, even a long stint with piracy.

Even still, in my neck of the woods, the 'banty' complex didn't usually cause people to gang up on one guy. That was reserved for what passes as gangs where I live.
