1 Put John McCain out to pasture:  He's given enough service to his country.  If he has any qualms about what his father told him to do with his life, let him go to the church of his choice and talk with his God and his Father to sort that part of his determined existence out.

We need someone who hasn't sold out certain conservative principles.  McCain has been a sell out in the Senate.  That does not mean there are not liberal principles worth fighting for; it means that he stood for conservative values to get elected, then when it came time to support them he did not.

Even now, with this immigration bill before Congress, McCain again shows he is not a conservative.  He has become a Washington elitist; wrong play, wrong guy for president.

McCain is a principled man. He's never portrayed himself dishonestly in any way, shape, or form. I wouldn't vote for him either, but give credit where credit is due. He's one of the only honorable men in Congress--a body politic that is infested with the worst of the worst in this country.

3 I've been saying McCain in history for months. Right here on this blog. Tired of hearing about McCain. In truth what has he ever done but live off the taxpayers.

4 He spent several years in a prison in Hanoi after flying hundreds of missions against our enemies and being shot down. His is permanently scarred from his ordeal and physically limited by the injuries he suffered at the hands of his captors and in his ejection.
 
It's not like he has a fishing boat and a farm and has enough time to hate on people at all hours of the day and night.

Seemonk: He's a hero for getting shot down. What! Did he do it on purpose? Fuck you. The guys who didn't get shot down are my heros. Hero for being a POW! Why? Did he have a choice? Fuck no. He's no more hero than any of the rest who didn't get captured. I was there. Twice. And I did see people get killed. Believe me all were not heros. Some didn't have the brains to duck when they were told. Some were there because they got drafted. Didn't wish to be there and could care less about the war. Some were even shot down because they didn't take proper evasive action. I also seen heros. Alive and dead. You don't know what the fuck your talking about. Have to walk in the shoes to understand. A hero doesn't make his living off of his heroism.  Never new anyone with hundreds of mission sin the short time he flew combat.

 

 

I own two nice boats and I earned them. With my sweat. Not my service to my country. Which was voluntary, both times. McCain has played his card to amass millions. Give it a break and get real. Most voters have. As far as hating. I only hate terrorists and assholes. Asshole.

6 Greyrooster, I'm going to side with Seemonk on the fact of McCain's service to his country. I don't see where he was drafted, but it doesn't matter to me. In WW2 men were drafted, and were heroes. It doesn't matter how you end up in the uniform, as long as you serve bravely, and loyaly, and do your best.  If I remember right, Pappy Boyington got captured in his war, didn't he?  They are both worthy of praise for thier service. That having been said, I will vote for a man based on his stand on ths issues. I don't see myself voting for McCain.  But I won't be dissing his time in uniform.

Seemonk, what Greyrooster has earned for himself doesn't really have anything to do with why your mad at him. Just a friendly request, but let the socialists play games of materialistic division. I think you guys have more in common than not. Those who want to tear this country down love it when we fight ourselves. I support dealing with the enemies that we have in common. lets fight each other when the house is no longer burning down around us

9 What is it with you people?  McCain got the Daddy's speech about how the family is supposed to do "public service" and be great leaders, like follow in the family's footsteps.  He has tried.  I give him credit for doing so.

As to the military.  Navy flier McCain was known as a "fuck-up" party loving aviator.  He got shot down.  Got hurt in his ejection.  Refused to play ball when the gooks found out who his Daddy was.  Stayed in the Hilton and toughed it out with his buds.

As to being a hero...I can only imagine how you would define a hero.  Brave man, certainly.  Warrior, I think so.  Tough guy...no doubt.  But hero?  I would listen to his fellow POWs.  And yes, I have talked to a couple...for hours, etc.  No one is ever the same from this kind of experience.

John McCain deserves respect for his military service, no question on my side.  Give him the free military pass he's entitled and earned...liked former Senator Bob Kerry, the guy who loves Bill Clinton.

Beyond this...McCain needs to go.  As President, he is not the right material.  He does not have that broad a perspective, and that is what just may be needed in our next President.

John Kerry is a coward, in case you were wondering how I looked at him.  Oh yea, I've seen these kinds of guys up close and personal...over there where they were "heroes" only in their own minds.  When you meet a real hero you will most often find someone who demurs such when receiving attention.  He only cares what his comrades, combat buddies cares, for they know the truth and that is what is really important--they fought together.  I don't see many vets joining these guys you wish to label heroes.

Maybe I am wrong, it's certainly possible.  But McCain will not be our next President, that I am sure of.

10 The question was "what has he done except Live off the taxpayers?" And I still await that answer. Beig captured by the enemy along with many others doesn't qualify a person for president. He went to the Navel Academy and since the day he joined he has lived off the tax payers. I don't see the other POW's playing the card. I don't see our warriors to good at their trade to get shot down playing that card. I don't see the many grunts wounded playing that hero card. And I don't care for the Kerry's, McCains and others that do. You have to be there pick out the heros. Believe me, how some acted in battle didn't match the story and metals later. Especially, when the heros are dead.

11 McCain served his country, and suffered terribly for it. He may have lived well since then, but he more than paid his dues to be considered a hero. I still won't vote for him unless a horrible tragedy wipes out the many superior choices we DO have, and it's between either McCain, or Hillary-Obama-Edwards.  I voted for Bush the same way, and I realize it may end up beng like that, but my real wish is to vote for fred.                    USA, all the way!
