Despite The Good News, Molson's Still Tastes Like Bantha Urine

Not that I've ever tasted Bantha urine, which would be impossible anyway, since Banthas only exist in the realm of George Lucas' diseased mind.

Where was I? Oh yeah.

The Taliban discovers that, well, when it comes to the Great White North, it's not necessarily a beauty way to go.

Canadian soldiers fought a fierce battle against the Taliban on Tuesday for the second day in a row, alongside soldiers from the Afghan National Army.

In Nalgham, about 35 kilometres south-west of Kandahar city, members of Hotel company made their way over mud walls and through waist-high water, as militants shot at them with rocket-propelled grenades and small arms fire.

The company's commander, Maj. Alex Ruff, told CTV News the battle has gone well.

"Well, so far, and keep your fingers crossed, we haven't lost anybody and there are a lot less Taliban running around," he said.

Initial estimates suggested 23 militants were killed in the firefight.

Thanks to the scary brown person from Canada, who's only scary because the left tells me that all Conservatives like me are scared of brown people. From Canada and various other environs.

Excrement question: Can you decipher the "Great White North" and "beauty way to go" mystery?

Bonus Excrement question: Are you willing to date yourself by answering the first Excrement question?

3 Fuckers. One of these days I'm going to come up with an obscure pop culture reference that none of you will get, and I'll laugh, and laugh, and laugh.

And then I'll cry, when I realize this is what a miserable existence I've gotten myself into.

5 Bob and Doug MacKenzie.

SCTV was better than SNL but for some reason I remember it only being on TV after Southwest Championship Wrestling which was over around 1 am.

The "beauty way to go" part was written by one of the hosers in "Rush".

Do I get any fabulous prizes?

"Dave Thomas and Rick Moranis originally created the characters Bob and Doug McKenzie in protest against government requirements for "identifiable Canadian content" in domestically produced television programming. The skits, as an SCTV program "The Great White North" featured two dim witted brothers who combined as many negative Canadian stereotypes as possible. Despite this, they became so popular that the skits were included in the U.S. version of the program."

13 From what I remember, the Great White North segment was created because the American broadcasts of SCTV had two extra minutes of commercials so the writers had to come up with two minutes of content for the Canadian broadcasts. I don't remember hearing about any interference from regulators but that doesn't mean it didn't happen.
As for favs, how about:
Dr. Tongue's 3-D House of...
Count Floyd
Celebrity Farm Report with Big Jim McBob and Billy Saw Hurock featuring celebrites that "blowed up real good"

As for its comparisons to SNL what I remember hearing was that the writers/staff wrote what they thought was funny while SNL wrote what they thought the audience would find funny. That's why you see a lot more of the pop culture fad characters coming from SNL while SCTV was more consistently funny.

While it may get my Canadian Citizenship revoked, I agree as far as Molson's Canadian goes but the company does have one'>http://www.sotallytober.com/bar/brew.php?ID=180">one bright star.

Canada has lots of great beers but they are generally from micro-breweries or single province companies. Reds and darks being particularly sinful. (See http://www.picaroons.ca/

16 Living close to the border, I'll defend Molson's and Labatt's and Old Vienna...hell even Moosehead Ale, eh?!

You're just used to drinking that horrid Coors weasel semen and can't handle a real man's beer with a higher alcohol content. You hoser.

17 The Great White North segment was created to satisfy a Canadian broadcasting requirement that a certain amount of programming be spent promoting and preserving Canadian culture... so as they didn't become too Americanized. Bob and Doug was what Moranis and Thomas saw as Canadian culture.

So it was a big middle finger to the Canadian Libs!

19 Welcome to the Great White North, eh.

You've had me humming their theme song all morning. Thanks. Thanks a lot.
