Dems Gunning for Bolton

According to the Washington Times, the Democrats are looking to pry John Bolton from the U.N. Ambassadorship:

Senate Democrats have promised a “bruising fight” over the administration’s nomination of John R. Bolton as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.

Mr. Bolton’s nomination was sent out of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee last year without a positive recommendation after Sen. George V. Voinovich, Ohio Republican, voted against him. Democrats then twice filibustered a vote on his confirmation once the nomination was sent to the Senate floor, forcing President Bush to make a recess appointment to fill the vacancy.

Mr. Bolton’s temporary appointment is set to expire this fall, when Congress adjourns. However, the Senate has scheduled a debate this week on extending Mr. Bolton’s appointment through the end of the Bush administration. On Thursday, Mr. Voinovich announced that he no longer is opposed to Mr. Bolton, all but guaranteeing that his nomination will be sent to the Senate floor with a positive recommendation.

“I think Senator Voinovich’s announcement was — obviously, I much appreciated it, and I think it represents a fairly dramatic change in the political dynamic in the Senate,” Mr. Bolton told “Fox News Sunday.”

However, some Democrats have continued to express opposition to his nomination.

If the Democrats think that a "Sink Bolton" campaign is just what they need to carry them to political victory, I predict they're in for a rude awakening.

1 What the h*ll is the matter with these liberal? And I don't just mean in the United States either!
Why do they admantly refuse to believe that if Islamofascist come to power the very first people they are going after are these very same bunch?!?!?!?!?!
Are these liberals and leftists so full of spite towards the U.S. that they would support its enemies even if that threatens their own worthless existence? Has the Islamist fascination with death and nihilism infected BOTH of their brain cells. Pardon the expression, but as you Americans say, "What the f**k gives?"

4 No Mehr, it's not a case of "hatred of the US," but rather "Dems must control the presidency, so Dems can control the judiciary." And following the typical juvenile "by any means necessary" strategy, they see that a defeat of Bolton will hurt Bush. Any long term damage to America is irrelevant to the ultimate goal of immediate electoral victory.

I believe that many Democrats secretly support Bush and the Iraq war. After all, nation building had traditionally been a toy of the _democrats_. These democrats know that they can criticize Bush's handling of Iraq all day long, with three outcomes: First, Bush will ignore them and will attempt to stabilize Iraq (if it's actually possible). Second, Bush's poll numbers (and thus the GOP) will be hurt, so that Dems will retake Congress. Third, the anti-war fringe will toss all their money at the democrats. All outcomes help the Dems.

I cynically believe that there are very few Democrats in Congress who actually disapprove of nation building as a legitimate tactic for the US. The anti-Bush posturing is just pandering to the Koskids.
