Democrats Ignoring Their Own Ethics Rules (Again)

The most open, most honest, most ethical Congress eternity will ever know is trying to ram through earmarks without scrutiny and without you knowing about it.

After promising unprecedented openness regarding Congress' pork barrel practices, House Democrats are moving in the opposite direction as they draw up spending bills for the upcoming budget year.

Democrats are sidestepping rules approved their first day in power in January to clearly identify "earmarks"—lawmakers' requests for specific projects and contracts for their states—in documents that accompany spending bills.

Rather than including specific pet projects, grants and contracts in legislation as it is being written, Democrats are following an order by the House Appropriations Committee chairman to keep the bills free of such earmarks until it is too late for critics to effectively challenge them.

The Democrats lied in 2006 when they promised "reform." They just wanted a piece of the action. Where are all of the leftwingnut blogs demanding transparency with the intensity and ferocity that they were demanding not even a year ago?

Exactly.

1 Look Lt
If you want more people to vote Republican you have to convince people that they are better than the Democrats. Trying to convince people to vote Republican because the Democrats are worse doesn't really work as well.
If and When the Democrats ear mark a 1.5 BILLION dollar "Bridge to Nowhere" Americans can only say "well they are just as bad as the Republicans"

2 John ryan,

don't worry about Republican elections strategies.  It's none of your concern, and we'll manage without you.  You should concern yourself with how corrupt your Dems have turned out to be.

3 Why would anyone be surprised that a party whose political strategy is to betray its country and deliberately try to get her soldiers killed behaves unethically?

4 Haha - that's rich, John Ryan.

Every thread you post on here involves criticizing Republicans when the Democrats get the anal probe they so richly deserve and are now getting.

Pot, meet Mr. Kettle.

I suppose we should just look the other way and allow the corruption and lies to continue unnoticed.

You voted for them, now you get to deal with their bullsh*t.

With power comes responsibility, as many Democrats often remark about Bush. Well, the Democrats have power, now they need oversight.

Its a bitch, isn't it?

5 I am sure CNN will start running "Broken Congress" specials 3 nights a week like they did in the run up to the last election.
