1 A bit too much skin, but far less than what Brittany, Christina, or Madonna have gotten away with. Positive message. Far better than the misogynistic crap that gets peddled in hip hop. I would say put a bit more on, but there isn't anything that I wouldn't let a child of mine listen to.

2 The difference is that Western society may make a comment about things they find offensive and then not watch it while Islam calls for it's death and all to often acts on their threats.

Her music isn't my cup of tea but I don't see anything offensive about it.

3 i wonder what yussef islam has to say about this brave/talented gal.

never mind - we all know the party line he now follows.

i smell a big steamy spliff of a fatwa coming.

4 LOL! She had to leave Europe to get away from radical Islam. Welcome to
America. Wow! She actually places the blame where it should be. No
blame Bush and the West. How is it that a Muslim pop singer has more
common sense than most of their "thinkers".

5 No such thing as too much skin, esp. with Deeyah.

She's a brave and smart woman.

6 Thanks Ragnar,

Good information that helps me remember that there are Muslims who do want to live in real freedom, and peace.

Also, I think Howie just got some competition in the 'hot chicks' catagory of posts.

I agree more with Lance about the skin comments. If you could see it on a public beach without it being indecent, I don't see a problem with it showing up in art, or music. We are not the Taleban, (just poking at you with a stick, and a smile, OK?)

Plus in the eighties I lived in a place where you could have used the stacks of porn for furniture, so Deeyah seems way more like the sweet, fun, girl next door, than a threat to moral values. Let her show her little bit of skin. She at least does some good with it

Welcome to the USA Deeyah, and I hope you stay.
USA, all the way!

7 Hey Randman, maybe she shows some common sense because unlike privileged little western divas she actually has been subject to sharia law and her life is in real and actual danger.
