Cubans Eager for Liberty as Castro Slowly Dies

Our friend Stefania reports that Cubans are eagerly awaiting the day Castro dies. Not surprisingly, the mainstream press ignores it.

Me? I've got $100 on Fidel dying before the end of 2007.

Townhall:

The "Yo No Coopero, Yo Si Quiero el Cambio" campaign is being endorsed by the overwhelming majority of the opposition organizations, both in Cuba and in the exile. It is an unprecedented initiative that, right now that Castro is dying in his hospital bed, may well be the right steps toward the liberation of Cuba.

No one should be surprised by the mainstream media blackout on these events. What surprises the most is the silence of the democratic world, with the United States and Europe on the forefront. For once, they should stop focusing on who is in power in Cuba in place of the ailing Fidel. Rather, they should start engaging the civic resistance movements inside Cuba that despite the increasing repression, has made it clear that "for Cuba, now it's time".

1 I saw the extended video of  Fidel.  His face is gaunt and his gait is weak and unsteady.  They put him in a jogging outfit to hide his emaciated condition IMHO.  The man is death walking. He has the classic look of someone dying of cancer (something I'm unfortunately all too familiar with}.   He will not survive 2006, let alone 2007.

May he enjoy his stay in Hell.

2 No wonder Liberals all over America are walking around with long faces.

3 Cancer is too good for him.

Are you guys kidding? The Hero of the Revolution is alive and well. Undead, anyway. You saw the video. He was lurching forward in an active man's jogging outfit and limply swaying his nerveless arms. He was almost able to bend them at the elbows! Sure, he weighs about 90 lbs now, but he's just going for that lean Hollywood cadaver look. He wants to look svelte for his starring role in the next Oliver Stone movie. Yeah, I know, the jackass who regularly goes on 6 hour rants didn't say anything for the first time in his life, but undead zombies never talk.

If he's seen eating someone's brains in the next video, the left will have to admit their Marxist idol is dead and start making t-shirts, posters, and coffee mugs with his likeness on them.

5 Does someone expect Cuba to change the moment the asshole dies? These people have been educated to believe America is bad for 50 years. Same as the muslim world is being educated. It will take years to bring the Cuban people back to sanity and we will never bring the muslims around without destroying their wills and leaders.

6 This is where we're deluding ourselves: Castro will never die.  The commies won't allow it.  The instant he does, he'll be resurrected; rebuilt, stronger and better before...using parts from a 57 Chevy.

7 Grey Rooster:

If Cubans hated America, they wouldn't float on rafts made of beer cans through shark infested waters to get here. Cuba is on the brink of major changes.

8 The Cubans living in the states are not in Cuba are they? I lived for years is Miami. I know what the former Cubans, now Americans think. In the fifties and sixties we got the best of their nation. Who do you think is left?

9 Bay of pigs invasion met by America loving Cubans intent on joining the freedom loving invaders. Thats why they shot the shit out of them and took them prisoner.

I don't want Cubans here, but they definitely want to come here. Once Castro's Orwellian government apparatus is gone, the cubans will realize how the world really works. They will not continue to regard America as an enemy.

11 Well when they change I'll change. Meanwhile screw the commies.

12 In my video game Ghost Recon Island Thunder, Castro was supposed to die this year. Shame it hasn't happened.
