Court Turns Down Canadian Jihadi Case

The U.S. Supreme Court has declined an appeal made by a 15 year old Canadian jihadi detained after he threw a hand grenade at a medic in Afghanistan. The Canadian peacenicks have been up in arms over Omar Khadr's detention. Oddly, nary a peep out of the same groups about a 15 year old kid fighting with the Taliban.

CBC:

The U.S. Supreme Court has refused to hear the case of Omar Khadr, the only Canadian imprisoned at the U.S. detention centre in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba....

Khadr is accused of throwing a grenade that killed a U.S. medic in Afghanistan in 2002. He also faces charges of attempted murder, conspiracy, spying and providing material support for terrorism.

He has been in U.S. custody since he was seized in Afghanistan at the age of 15.

His family lives in Toronto, and I'm sure the city is much more charming because their presence.

Incidentally, a Yemeni detainee's case, that of Salim Ahmed Hamdan, was also turned down.

UPDATE: A friend e-mails:

Forget the fact he was 15 - his whole family was involved in terrorism. His dad was killed and his brother crippled in a firefight between the Taliban they were with and Pakistanis -- his sister was caught with a videotape of OBL attending her wedding... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zaynab_Khadr

I hate Wikipedia but I don't have all my stuff on Khadr in front of me - the entry is pretty good though: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omar_Khadr

See also http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khadr_family

The sources for the entries give lots more details... the family is always in the news in Canada.

1 In a lot of the world 15 is effectively adulthood. It used to be like that in the great ancient empires as well.  Due to our perception of things in the west, he might have gotten turned loose if he had only been throwing rocks, but ebven still a flying rock can kill someone. Our enemy seems to prefer "child" soldiers.
                USA, all the way!

2 Possibly because he's:
1) Not American
2) Was caught outside the US
3) Fighting US troops as an "unlawful combatant"
4) And is now a resident of Cuba.

In other words, he "ain't got no Constitutional rights to violate."

3 Personally, as a Canadian, I'd like to see him get what he deserves.  I'd also like to see the rest of his family deported from Canada for being terrorist supporters.

But then, I'm not a lefty peacenik.

9 This is one of the few times that I would support the death penalty for a child. It is sad to see the koranimals do this to their kids but when their kids become dangerous to society like this Canadian who mysteriously ended up in the middle of OEF. (where I was too BTW as a American Sailor)
It is a shame that our good tax dollars go to keep this jr terrorist alive. He should have been taken care of out on the battlefield, but maybe there is a reason the military kept him as a unlawful combatant. I give the military the benefit of the doubt unlike the MSM does.

10 Thx Buglar. Says it all. Why in the hell did Canada let them back in? Crazy. The entire family has been brainwashed to the degree they serve no useful purpose on this earth. I wonder if that bitch in black in receiving Canadian welfare?

12 I hear a lot about this Al Qaeda fella. Who is he, anyways? He seems to have a lot of sons and none of them seem very nice. Maybe it's time to get the old sniperoo.

16 Hey yo, guys. Allah is right, and all who fight for His law to be made supreme are right. You guys are wrong. But don't take my anonymous word for it, ask your Lord for guidance if you're sincere, and then see. Till then, Shariah Power all the way! Long live the Islamic State(s)! Allahu Akbar!
