Regional French newspaper L'Est Republicain, quoting a confidential source in French intelligence reports that Osama bin Laden has died of typhoid. The source notes an email circulated among French officials based on information from the Saudis.
CBS reports that the account in the French newspaper stems from an actual secret document and that the French are investigating the leak.
The information comes from a brief to French president Jacques Chirac based on Saudi intelligence sources. The Saudis seem to have confidence in the report but will not confirm without further corroboration, like locating bin Laden's burial site.

Bring out your dead!
[clang]
Bring out your dead!
[clang]
G.W. BUSH:
Here's one.
UNITED NATIONS:
Ninepence.
OSAMA BIN LADEN:
I'm not dead!
UNITED NATIONS:
What?
G.W. BUSH:
Nothing. Here's your ninepence.
OSAMA BIN LADEN:
I'm not dead!
UNITED NATIONS:
'Ere. He says he's not dead!
G.W. BUSH:
Yes, he is.
OSAMA BIN LADEN:
I'm not!
UNITED NATIONS:
He isn't?
G.W. BUSH:
Well, he will be soon. He's very ill.
OSAMA BIN LADEN:
I'm getting better!
G.W. BUSH:
No, you're not. You'll be stone dead in a moment.
UNITED NATIONS:
Oh, I can't take him like that. It's against regulations.
OSAMA BIN LADEN:
I don't want to go on the cart!
G.W. BUSH:
Oh, don't be such a baby.
UNITED NATIONS:
I can't take him.
OSAMA BIN LADEN:
I feel fine!
G.W. BUSH:
Well, do us a favor.
UNITED NATIONS:
I can't.
G.W. BUSH:
Well, can you hang around a couple of minutes? He won't be long.
UNITED NATIONS:
No, I've got to go to the Sudan. They've lost ninety today.
G.W. BUSH:
Well, when's your next round?
UNITED NATIONS:
Thursday.
OSAMA BIN LADEN:
I think I'll go for a walk.
G.W. BUSH:
You're not fooling anyone, you know. Look. Isn't there something you can do?
OSAMA BIN LADEN: [singing]
I feel happy. I feel happy.
[whop]
G.W. BUSH:
Ah, thanks very much.
UNITED NATIONS:
Not at all. See you on Thursday.
