I don't think he's saying we'll lose if it's a fight against Islam. I think he's saying we'll lose if it's a fight between Christianity and Islam. That the fight needs to be between Modernity and the regressive elements of Islam.
On the other hand, it would be nice to know if there were non-regressive elements of Islam.

Hard to argue with Bush. They can sneak up on a 60-year-old nun blow her away and then set up protests around the globe. Chris Hitchens rips the Pope and the MSM sides with them. Bush knows the drill, who he is up against, the apologists of the murder cult.
They will back anyone who takes on the Church or Christianity.
Kill a nun and the Pope is supposed to apologize to these murdering animals to keep them under wraps for another day. Who dares piss them off tomorrow?

Bush is no fool. He knows the only way to win this war is to sideline the majority of muslims. Therefore when he says "islam is a religion of peace", he does that for their benefit, not ours. He wants THEM to think it's a religion of peace, not us.

I believe Bush is saying if this conflict paradigm shifts from one between oppression and freedom to a conflict between religious ideologies, we will lose our position and thus his war. However, once islam makes this a war between religious ideology, the gloves really can come off. Muslims will be expelled from free nations and their religion will be stripped of legitimacy in the eyes of the free world. Islam will be stripped of it's holdings across the globe. They then will be cast out upon the desert and will wonder for a thousand generations.

If we had a leader with some balls, he would have already solved the problem by dealing directly with the Saudis, who are the masterminds behind all this. And by "dealing with", I don't mean depositing their checks as he and every other piece of shit slimeball in Washington does, but by military action. We should invade their sandbox, kill the royal family, etablish a military zone throughout the peninsula, and take their oil, since all they're using it for is to fund terrorism. Muslims are animals and if suffered to live at all, should be made to live in the desert with their brothers, the rats and scorpions.

Carlos; he's also sidelining the vast majority of American patriots by not mobilizing us in support. He knows he's lying to us, and we know he's lying to us, and the enemy knows as well, so sitting around pretending everything's okay while we ignore our collective national eye-tick is not really getting us anywhere. If he had balls and was honest, he'd call for We the People to take arms and drive this scum from our land, then he'd start carpet bombing every muslim city in the world. Muslims can only be reasoned with once they reach room temperature.
