Will you please run, Fred? For the love of G-d, country and all things most exquisitely brutal, do it! We're with you!

I have quite a few qualms about this bandwagon. I can't begin to explain them all so I'll say I just don't think that Thompson can become President.

One of the major reasons is that he quit his political career, after one term, to go back into acting. I know all about the other careers he's had and still don't believe that qualifies him to be Chief Executive and Commander in Chief.

The other is that he has cancer. And don't try to tell me that's not something I should take into consideration, please.

The pickings are pretty slim from both parties this cycle. I'm coming to terms with the prospect of having to vote for a man that may not be up to an enormous task. That's if I can bring myself to vote for any of them.

2 One of the major reasons is that he quit his political career, after one term, to go back into acting.

Well, his political career stretches back to 1969, if you count his time as a assistant U.S. attorney. And part of the reason he porbably didn't run for a second term was that daughter also died of a drug overdose in 2002.

I know all about the other careers he's had and still don't believe
that qualifies him to be Chief Executive and Commander in Chief.

You could rattle off any number presidents who had fewer qualifications, including Harry Truman.

The other is that he has cancer. And don't try to tell me that's not something I should take into consideration, please.

Well, you seem to be showing no consideration to what type of cancer that it is. FYI, it is an extremely slow-growing type lymphoma that has shown no signs of growth thus far. In fact he'll die of old age before it has the chance to become life-threatening.

I seem to remember the issues made about Reagan's advanced age when he was re-elected President and (don't quote me on this) that he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's late in his second term.

The pickings are pretty slim from both parties this cycle. I'm coming
to terms with the prospect of having to vote for a man that may not be
up to an enormous task. That's if I can bring myself to vote for any of
them.

Well, I'm going to vote for someone, as I don't want Hillary or Obama in office.

3 I only got to see around half of the debate before the msnbc video went screwy, but I'd already seen the bit with Guiliani taking Paul apart (viz. '9/11 was because of US foreign policy'), which was funny, right and deserved the applause it received.
Speaking as a foreigner, it looks to me like the only party with 'slim pickings' is the Democratic party. Indeed, the Republicans seem to have some heavy hitters.

7      He's smart.  Stay out of the race and avoid all these moronic early debates.  Let the idiots weed themselves out.  Later he can jump in with plenty of money and a clear record.

For months I have been saying Giuliani and Thompson need to get together. Still to soon. Anyone realize its still 18 months before the next president takes office? Some candates and already wearing out. Ex: Barrack HUSSEIN Jomama, the clinton bitch and John Mccain. Thompson is doing the right thing.
