Brits Return Home

The 15 British sailors and Marines abducted by Iran nearly two weeks ago landed safely in London a little after noon local time.

From Reuters:

Prime Minister
Tony Blair welcomed their return but called for continued international pressure on Tehran following the deaths of four servicemen in an attack in
Iraq earlier in the day.

"Now it is far too early to say that the particular terrorist act that killed our forces was an acted committed by terrorists that were backed by any elements of the Iranian regime, so I make no allegation in respect of that particular incident," Blair said.

Although all of the captured crewman "confessed" to trespassing in Iranian waters, Britain maintains it was operating legally in Iraqi waters. It insists that there was no quid pro quo with the Iranian government.

And in a move perhaps designed to coincide with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's visit to Damascus, Syria claimed bragging rights for bringing the incident to a peaceful resolution:

“Syria exercised a sort of quiet diplomacy to solve this problem and encourage dialogue between the two parties,” Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem said in Damascus.

1 Thank Almighty they have come back.

Vicki,
You're probably aware of the case of Ron Arad the IAF pilot who was captured in Lebanon and has been held by the Mullahcracy's thugs for two decades. And of course you're aware of the case of IDF soldiers kidnapped by Hizbullah and the Palestinian parasites. I'm profoundly glad that the Brits did not end up like that.

2 Those 15, as presented, don't seem to be soldiers, marines, sailors, or committed British citizens who took an oath to defend with their lives.  Perhaps they were/are civilian contractors who just put on some surplus British military uniforms and patrolled the strait boarding ships per the UN mandate.  They look better dressed in Iranian garb of western design.  The woman is said to be pregnant.  TV stations are interviewing every family member they can find...soon I expect a shot in a cemetary where a loved one's headstone is zoomed in with some words that now grandpa won't be having his grandson buried next to him...etc. etc.  We just need to understand the Islamic mind, the feelings, the beliefs.  Let's hold hands, smoke some really good European legalized pot, perhaps take some American acid, look at pictures of Ghandi, King, and of course, Sean Penn...  Soon, we will all be part of one big happy, yet diverse, family.  Maybe watching a sex tape of Rosie O'Donnell and her married partner...after they break up and divorce.  I'm going to shoot my neighbor's cat for some real sport...then apologize saying it is PTSD from watching this bullsh*t spectacle play out on my tv!

3 I guess the Royal Navy is very much different than the U.S. Navy.  Had those 15 been our sailors/Marines, all the terrorists would have gotten out of them was "name, rank, serial number".

4 #1 GM ---

I'm very glad too. I've read about Ron Arad, but I'm not sure if he is still thought to be alive. I've been following the case of the IDF soldiers and the other Middle East hostages on my blog and there is a prayer list there. If you know of anyone else who should be on it, please let me know.
