One thing is lost in all the press coverage of the whining Americans who went to Lebanon of their own accord and now want us to pick up the tab to get them out.THE MAJORITY OF AMERICANS IN LEBANON ARE HEZBOLLAH SUPPORTERS.
Okay, that's all well and good, I guess, despite the fact that she doesn't back up her claim with anything but her own word. Which, I might add, is a vocabulary consisting of mostly "I'LL SUE!"
So, let's examine. 25,000 Americans in Lebanon, the majority of whom, according to the blogtard, are Hezbollah supporters. How many have been evacuated so far?
120.
How many are our military planning to evacuate? 5-8,000.
Yet our intrepid warrior says this:
is it a good idea to rush to bring 25,000 such persons back to the U.S. at a time when Hezbollah is at war against the strongest U.S. ally?
Back to reality:
The evacuated Americans will be taken to Cyprus, where they can choose to go on to their homes or fly to other countries.
So St. Deborah Of The Factually Challengedâ„¢ is concerned that a marauding horde of rampaging Hezbollah supporters numbering 25,000 will invade our shores at our expense.
Even though it's a marauding horde of homogenous U.S. citizens invading Cyprus for much cheaper. With an option to go elsewhere on their own dime.
If my knee were jerking, I might agree with this:
Should Hezbollah supporters be transported on a ship named for one of the most heroic events in U.S. history, the U.S.S Iwo Jima? Should U.S. tax dollars fund the charter of commercial ships to transport the rest of these terror-sympathizers?The instant answer from all freedom-loving Americans to these questions should be a loud "NO."
Well, if Deb would provide actual proof that the majority of the people being evacuated are Hezbollah sympathizers, I might hesitate at endorsing the action. But, then again, if all of these Hezbollah sympathizers are being evacuated, isn't in our best interests to keep tabs on them? Especially since they're going to a Mediterranean island?
Here's a nice picture of the people that Debbie Schlussel doesn't want your tax dollars being spent to evacuate:

Yup, looks like a Hezbollah supporter to me. More can be found here.
In conclusion, I have to voice my deepest suspicions. Debbie Schlussel is a mole. She's a Kos Kid tasked to invade the right wing, her mission to make us look bad. She has all the classic earmarks of a leftist, i.e.
Presents conclusions based on nothing.
Retaliates on those who disagree with litigation.
Calls for a boycott of Wal Mart.
The photo on her site doesn't match the real Deborah.
Whatever she is, she's definitely a blogtard.

Now as to that terrorist thing... Only people who *don't* spent a lot of time around little kids would think they're not terrorists! They're wily and cunning, constantly looking for ways to exploit your weaknesses. They're experts at using PR against you (especially in the form of grandparents and your spouse), and no technique is too low for them. And don't forget the occasional sneak attack, usually on something you really need or thought was safe. No, they're terrorists, plain and simple!

Truth is, MOST lebanese immigrants to America have been Christians (like the only Arab American senator we ever had, Spence Abraham of Michigan, or Ray Lahood of Illinois, both Republican Lebanese Christians). How do I know that? Well, think about it: the Maronites have been losing power in Lebanon ever since the French left. Lebanon was created by the French as a Lebanese Christian homeland, but they have been emigrating in increasing numbers for greater opportunities, particularly since the 60s. Some muslims have left, but I'd guess it is at least evenly split between Sunnis and Shi'ites.
The irony of many Arab communities in America is that even from countries like Syria, they tend to have a lot of Christians, because Christians have been fleeing the Arab world (including, incidentally, the West Bank) because of the rise of Islamic extremism and bigotry against Christians. There are several prominent Syrian Christians...like Ralph Nader.
I'm kind of surprised that "Jesusland" would label all these Christians "Shi'ites" Where do you get that idea???

Most Arabs in America are not Muslim, and most Muslims are not Arabs. Most Arab Americans came from Lebanon and Syria, in several waves of immigration beginning at the outset of the 20th century. Most Muslim Americans are African American or from South Asia. Many of the early Arab immigrants assimilated well in American society. Arab-American organizations are fond of highlighting prominent Americans of at least partial Arab descent: Ralph Nader, George Mitchell, John Sununu, Donna Shalala, Spencer Abraham, Bobby Rahal, Doug Flutie, Jacques Nasser, Paul Anka, Frank Zappa, Paula Abdul, among many others. Like other ethnic groups in America, Arabs and Muslims have produced many successful Americans whose ethnic background is merely an afterthought.
****
I have several Lebanese Christian friends, including one guy in college who was a strong supporter of the Phalangists, and hated Muslims more than you do, Jesusland. (He actually preferred to call himself a Phoenician, and claimed that the Muslim lebanese were Arab and Turkish immigrants to his Phoenicia. He made a big deal out of being blue eyed....).
Do you still think "many or most" of those "Americans" are shi'ite supporters of Hezbollah? Why do you continue to think that?

And if the IDF is not bombing christian areas and they're pretty much ok, as she claims, but IS bombing shiite areas, doesn't that also suggest that the evacuess would be mostly shiite? I think it does. I'll bring you the proof as soon as I find it.

Carlos--although the Israelis are pinpoint experts at bombing, the last time they had a major assault on Lebanon, they missed their target and hit a neighboring village, killing 100 civilians (this is what THEY say, not an uncredited Arab allegation). Lebanon is a very small country, and many Christian houses are next to Muslim neighborhoods. They are also bombing Lebanese Army outposts, which are NOT in Hezbollah territories.
That said, Krauthammer in the Wpost has the most hopeful depiction I've read so far of the Israeli strategy.

Barney - me neither in '83. Couldn't get lift tickets. Did fill a shitload of sandbags, get a nasty sunburn, and an itty bitty piece of shrapnel in the right thigh. A John Kerry wound - friend gave me a pair of tweezers and a bandaid. Never filed papers on it though - kinda embarrassing.

Debbie, at age 37, stumbles upon the cutting-edge theory that Asians may have migrated across the Bering Strait land bridge into the Americas tens of thousands of years ago.
This gets the gears in her head turning...
"If the ASIANS were here first," she thinks to herself, "then that means that there's NO SUCH THING AS A NATIVE AMERICAN!"
Plans are then hatched to wrest control of the reservation "gaming" and tax-free cigarette industries from so-called "indians."
She's one of the darlings of the conservative blogosphere! I'll bet you guys are proud!

Most Lebanese-Americans are Christian.
This is called a theory:
Since most Lebanese-Americans are Christian (fact) then it follows that most Lebanese-Americans don't support Hezbollah.
This is called an anecdote:
Most Lebanese-Americans (I know quite a few of them, and am even sort of related to some) hate Hezbollah and Muslims in general. They also aren't big fans of the J-O-Os, but not supporting Israel is not the same as supporting Israel.

Doesn't that warrant further investigation even if D.S. is B.S.?
Then... note that about 1/2 the Hezbollah criminal investigations/convictions in the USA are in Dearborn, Michigan per Counterterrorism Blog: Hizballah Activity in North America
Sure... even a clock is right twice a day. But Dearborn keeps coming up, Hezbollah in America is a reality and what are so many 'Americans' doing in Lebanon?

Keeping in touch with the mother country. Some Lebanese Americans, like Greek Americans, send their children to the old country for weeks and months during the summer. Also, the US has had long economic and cultural interests in Lebanon, much more than most Arab countries. There are at least two American affiliated universities there. Also, Beirut was recovering its role as a central banking center, and we have a lot more financial interests than the French.

You're petifogging. The majority of the Americans demanding to be evacuated from Lebanon probably are Party of Allah supporters. According to the State Department, most of them are from muslim ridden areas in places like Michigan (Shit-hole.) I've been there and it's like a separate nation existing within America. A nation that hates America.
Schlussel should have made the distinction between Americans in Lebanon and those clamoring for evacuation. Those assholes aren't afraid of the Party of Allah--they're afraid of the Israelis. Most of the evacuees were "vacationing" in South Lebanon. Not a lot of pro-American sentiment in South Lebanon.
Posted by: Jeff Bargholz at July 21, 2006 07:06 PM (jwbRD)
And American Arabs are quite patriotic, in my experience, even when they hate our Israel policy. Here's evidence for that: there are few if any incidents of Arab Americans engaging in terrorism (I'm distinguishing between citizens and resident aliens, but even there, the numbers as a % of total population are low compared to Europe).
Posted by: jd at July 23, 2006 01:36 PM (DQYHA)
Your point is common knowledge. It's also irrelevant. Christian Lebanese Americans haven't lifted a finger to rid their country of the "party of allah" or Syria's control. Instead of working to liberate their country, they left their fellow citizens to rot and fled here. They go back to Lebanon like the parasites they are to suck what they can from it while the countrymen they abandoned suffer. Fuck them.
Why do you assume that most of the evacuees are Christian? Just because most "Arab" Americans are Christian, doesn't mean most of the evacuees are. Are most of the "Arabs" in American mosques Christian just because Christians make up a majority of the "Arab" American population? The Christians don't have to fear being targeted by the Israelis--and they DON'T live in South Lebanon.
The vast majority of Lebanese are not filthy Arabs, by the way. Arabic is a language they share, but ethnically they aren't the same.
Arabs are the least patriotic segment of American society. They have the lowest military participation level in the country--far lower than illegal aliens, even. Patriots are willing to fight for their country--the vast majority of "Arabs" are not.
To put it bluntly: You are wrong.
