Taking Media Matters Down a Peg, Via Olbyloon (bumped)

Time for a clueblubbing.

Media Matters "About Us" statement:

Launched in May 2004, Media Matters for America put in place, for the first time, the means to systematically monitor a cross section of print, broadcast, cable, radio, and Internet media outlets for conservative misinformation — news or commentary that is not accurate, reliable, or credible and that forwards the conservative agenda — every day, in real time.
Heh.

This tax-exempt "progressive media watchdog" group seems to be systematically ignoring an entire universe of Democrat and liberal misinformation that pours forth from the mainstream press on a daily basis - that is, news or commentary that is not accurate, reliable, or credible and that forwards a liberal agenda. Every day. In real time.

Keith Olbernut's latest anti-Bush screed is a textbook example of liberal misinformation, smearing and lying that is quite commonplace on both MSNBC and across mainstream TV news and radio across the country. Olbermann tried to pin the VT massacre on George W. Bush. Only the most far-gone Bush-hating cool-aid drinkers would buy that. From just a basic factual level, George W. Bush shot nobody, and is therefore not responsible for anything that happened at Virginia Tech. What Olbermann is doing is not 'journalism' or 'factually accurate' by any stretch of the imagination.

Media Matters, apparently, doesn't see a problem with the information Olby presented here. Hell, they regularly applaud his "Worst Person in the World" tantrums. In which case, they're exposed permanently as the petty, jealous, Democrat-funded closet cases and hatchet artists that they are. And thus, this presents an opportunity to shine a little light on this cute little site for any and all to see.

How do I know for an undeniable fact the shadowy figures running Media Matters are nothing but rabid Democrats? Easy, young grasshopper. Let me count the ways.

And of course, Media Matters doesn't seem to have a problem with President Bush being portrayed as the genocidal, anti-Semitic, anti-Religious dictator Adolf Hitler by Democrat activist groups. In fact, here's two of the lost MoveOn.org ads that portrayed Bush as Hitler. MoveOn.org also received donations from none other than leftwing Democrat-supporting billionaire George Soros, who also contributed funding to Media Matters through various foundations and institutes that he both founded and co-founded for the singular expressed purpose of destroying Republicans.

The group will also deny getting money directly from Soros, which was a reversal from an earlier position claiming that none of their money was affiliated with any Soros-funded outfits or enterprises. Horowitz and Co. highlight this lie and two-step away from it at DTN:

Media Matters has not always been forthcoming about its high-profile backers. In particular, the group has long labored to obscure any financial ties to George Soros. But in March 2003, the Cybercast News Service (CNS) detailed the copious links between Media Matters and several Soros "affiliates"—among them MoveOn.org, the Center for American Progress, and Peter Lewis. Confronted with this story, a spokesman for the organization explained that "Media Matters for America has never received funding directly from George Soros" (emphasis added), a transparent evasion.

Nor were groups cited by CNS the only connection between Media Matters and Soros. As investigative journalist Byron York has noted, another Soros affiliate that bankrolled Media Matters was the New Democratic Network. In addition, Soros is reported to be involved in the newly formed Democracy Alliance, a partnership of some 80 affluent financiers who each have vowed to contribute $1 million or more in order to build up an ideological infrastructure of leftist thinks tanks and advocacy groups. News reports list Media Matters as a main beneficiary of the Alliance's funding. By August of 2004, Media Matters' operating budget had already doubled to $4 million.

Media Matters likes to position itself as "progressive," but all that means is "Democrat." According to the Soros-backed database Open Secrets, Media Matters CEO David Brock contributed personally to Democrat candidates and politicians in the 2006 election cycle - Democrats like Hillary Clinton, Harold Ford, Joe Sestak and Donna Edwards. and that's just 2006. Look up 2004 for more confirmation.

It is hilarious to watch the shadow puppets at Media Matters try to perfect their art of manufacturing media-centric hatchet jobs. And I'm not saying they don't have a right to do it.

What I am saying is that Media Matters have no clothes. We don't have to subsidize their partisan behavior by letting them pretend they're serving some non-partisan, governmental function. And we don't have to let their flagrant dishonesty stand unchallenged, either. The smooth veneer and hip iGeneration look of their site won't hide the fact that they are nothing but willing mouthpieces in the larger Democrat Party information war on facts.

I'll forward a copy of this to Keith.

Maybe Jawa Report will make the worst segment. I'd be honored.
