Australian Taliban Trial to Open; May Plea Bargain

The Australian traitor who fought with the Taliban and al Qaeda, David Hicks, will face justice at a military commission set to reopen today at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Justice, that is, unless he cops a plea. Which it looks like he will do.

Apparently, he wants to go back to Australia to face charges there. And since Australia is part of the Coalition in Afghanistan, wouldn't fighting with the Taliban or al Qaeda be an act of treason? I love Michael Howard, but I don't think even he has the balls to charge Hicks with treason.

The media accounts, as if on cue, only quote Hick's lawyers and family [pictured right: Hick's father went on a pilgrimage to Pakistan in order to better "understand" his sons involvement with the Taliban. "He was just trying to be helpful," the elder Hicks said]. The Australian convert to Islam who voluntarily went to Afghanistan to support the barbaric regime, is portrayed as the victim. Apparently none of the reporters bothered to call up a 9/11 family to see how they felt about Hick's incarceration.

BBC:

Australian David Hicks is set to become the first Guantanamo Bay detainee to attend a hearing under revised US military tribunal rules.

His lawyers said they may plea bargain to avoid a full trial and try to have him handed into Australian custody...

The rest of the article just goes on to describe how Hicks had to grow long hair to cover his eyes so he could sleep at night because his human rights were being violated by the guards leaving the lights on. Boo-frickin-hoo. Then it goes on to say how bad America is. Bad America, bad! And it's not just the BBC coverage. I especially love this headline: Prosecutor says US not ashamed of Hicks's treatment

1 Poor soul, had to grow long hair to cover his eyes....such torture....
Come to think of it I guess I was torturing my kids when they insisted on having a night light on. We Americans are so bad because we don't chop  peoples heads off in front of a camera. Maybe if we started doing that we would be better liked?...not...*spit* on this traitor, the msm and anyone else who is feeling sorry for this shaggy dog creep.

3 Any idea what the plea bargain being discussed amounts to?

4 The problem in Mohammed Daoud's (formerly David Hicks) case is that there were no Australian laws in place covering terrorism at the time he commited his offences. If he were returned to Australia he'd be off scot free.
BTW Rusty, the prime minister you love is JOHN ,not Michael, Howard.

5 David Hicks is a nerd who was bullied at school and found solace with the homosexuals of Islam. Poor little faggot, I hope he fries.

Warner,

Ah but the Australians have agreed to hold him under whatever sentence the US Military Tribunal sentences him to. If the Tribunal sentences him to 40 years, then David Hick’s is going to be spending the next 40 years in an Australian prison.

7 And so he should.!!! ..but this would be under an inter-governmental reciprocal agreement on detention of prisoners. Unfortunately Australian law doesn't allow for  retrospective charges so if the offence of aiding and abbetting terrorism wasn't on the statutes when the offence was committed he can'be charged here.

8 Hang the bastard. Hang the father too. Just for being stupid enough to raise such an asshole. And when you hang them. Stand John Lyin under them looking up so he can he a face full.

9 Warner,

Which probably explains why the Aussies were willing to allow him to be tried by the US Military Tribunal. Can’t charge him under Australian laws so let the Yanks charge him under theirs and then hold him under the sentence of the US Military Tribunal.
