Incidentally the largest population of Americans in a single city outside the United States is found in Calgary Alberta. If Canada really were second rate, these folks wouldn't have come here.

Calgary really is a first rate city, hence why so many other Canadians (including myself) are immigrating here.  Lowest taxes in Canada (sales tax is only 6%), booming economy, right now its a great place to live.  Thing that sucks is the housing shortage due to the boom, makes it a bit expensive to find a place to live.  That situation is improving as we speak.

Canada actually has made a huge contribution to the Afghanistan effort considering our pitiful military budget and size.  And our PM wants to step up the efforts despite the fact that he's in his first year of a minority government and that his decision is unpopular in many parts of the country.
