Al-Maliki: No One Immune

Some optimistic, some pessimistic rhetoric out of Iraq. In parliamentary session today, the Iraqi Prime Minister promised that no one was off limits in the ongoing effort to bring Baghdad under control. And recent arrests of both Sadrist militiamen and the battle against Sunni terrorists on Haifa street attest to that fact.

But he also all but accused one of the Sunni MPs of being a terror supporter. Either way that's bad. Because if he's wrong, he's just inflamed more sectarian division. But if he's right.......

Read the whole thing. And I'll add that Pajamas Media has really improved in the last few days. I'd also spend some time reading this story from the Philippines. 100 years of fighting Islamist rebels, and still going.

1 The article about the Philippines is right in that the politicians have neither the power nor even the will to resolve the Moro issue.  If America intervenes, that can potentially lead to a conclusion to the terrorist insurgency.  Unfortunately, politics in the Philippines right now makes that less than completely feasible as well.

2 We will see. The Mahdi have/had a guy named Mustapha Yaquobi who laid the plan out pretty plainly last fall. I see nothing that would indicate they have altered that plan. Unless everyone is disarmed this will fail.

al-Sadr will not allow disaramament and neither would Iran or Hezballah. It will be a fight. That is why the President is warning of tough times. Unfortunately the rubber chickens in the government are showing their lack of spine at a very critical time.

3 Let's review: The enemy has clarity of vision, unity of purpose, shared
goals, and the resolve to see it through; while we are fractious and
consumed with infighting. Terrorists have the sympathy and support of
significant majority of the world's population, mainly because of the
central theme of "kill Whitey", while we bend over backwards to kiss
the asses of the scum of the world, and get kicked in the teeth for it.
Anyone wanna lay odds on the survival of civilization once Evil Whitey
is gone? Anyone? Nah, don't think so.

4 Not me. I know who made present day civilization. I also know who will ruin it. With the help of the Samuel Fisher scumbags of the day.
