Airstrike Sends Taliban Leader Home to Allah

From a CENTCOM press release:

KABUL, Afghanistan – Mullah Akhtar Mohammad Osmani, a senior member of the Taliban’s inner circle, was killed Dec. 19 in Helmand Province.

Credible intelligence led Coalition Forces to Osmani’s location near the border with Pakistan. His vehicle, traveling in a deserted area, was destroyed by a Coalition air strike, instantly killing him and two unidentified associates.

“Osmani was in the top ring of the Taliban leadership and he was also a close associate of Osama bin Laden and Gulbuddin Hekmatyr,” said Col. Tom Collins, Coalition spokesperson. “His death is a major achievement in the fight against extremists and their terrorist networks.”

Osmani was the Taliban’s chief of military operations in the provinces of Uruzgan, Nimroz, Kandahar, Farah, Herat and Helmand. He played a central role in facilitating terrorist operations involving Taliban, al-Qaeda and the Haqqani Network, to include IED and suicide attacks, kidnappings, numerous atrocities against innocent civilians, and direct attacks on Coalition, NATO, and Afghan forces, Collins said.

The Associated Press story about Osmani's death is full of references to the US "claims," as if the wire service, especially after the Jamil Hussein fiasco, has the credibility to question CENTCOM.

3 Damn! Fresh out of virgins. Wonder if he'll settle for a couple of divorced, middle-aged chicks with three kids each?

6 I thought that everything was snowed-in by this time of year
there.  Maybe this is one of those hunter/killer SOCOM
things.  It would be nice if once in a while they could sneak in,
cut their beard, slide a goat in their bed and get a few
pictures.  But, on second thought, blowing them into tiny bits
seems a very good idea too.

7 If Osmani were an "innocent civilian," the AP wouldn't have any problem reporting his death as an indisputable fact.

8 Well Rooster always nice to hear from you
Actually that "news" does not seem to have any real importance to it. Al Queda the Taliban the civil war in Iraq are not top driven organizations, killing the head does not necessarily kill the body.
The killing of al Zarqawi some months past in Iraq seems to have had little affect on al Queda's operations against our troops.
As for thinking this death would "break my heart" personal attacks (especially anonymous over the internet) often simply show a lack of convinction in one"s own position.
Not evryone (at last count 68%) who does not support the current Bush agenda are "traitors" or "terrorist lovers".
And, Rooster, in case your "friends" from the Bronx lost my address, it is still the same [THE JAWA REPORT DOES NOT ALLOW COMMENTERS TO POST ADDRESSES OR PHONE NUMBERS, BUT HERE' A PIC OF JOHN RYAN'S MOTORCYCLE - pic] Ave, if my motorcycle is parked out front it probably means I am home.
And Ricardo since you never have been there you probably were unaware that the weather there is really determined by the elevation more than by the season.

10 John Lyin:

Al Qaeda and the Taliban were most certainly top driven organizations, as their current disarray and nuisance level status prove. Zawahiri doesn't make his ridiculous propaganda videos for nothing.

The greasing of Zarqueeri in Iraq dealt a terrific blow to terrorists the world over. Before he died, he was sniveling about how the Coalition was crushing the jihadis, and after his ignoble death and the death of his self anointed "successor," all the little gangs claiming to be Al Qaeda have been wailing and ululating in despair. "La la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la! allah preserve us from the Crusaders!"

Your islamopihecine propaganda fools nobody.

Lying always shows a lack of conviction "in one's own position."

The 68% of people you quoted don't want America to cut n' run from Iraq, nor do the idiots, traitors and koranimals who oppose America's presence in Iraq have any idea what the Bush Doctrine consists of. Mindless opposition to reality is nothing to brag about, in any case.

If elevation affected weather more than seasons, seasons wouldn't exist, shit for brains.

So what are you anyway? An America-last leftist dhimmie, or an islamopithecine? Either way, you take it up the ass.

Osmani is still dead and burning in hell, by the way.
