A Not-So-Sunny Day in the Capital

I won't elaborate, but I'm now completely convinced that we're in a war with "the liberals" (meaning, the Social Democrats) just as much as we're in a war with "irreconcibable Islam." I'm also beginning to think that, at least as an organizing principle, we ought to start pushing to change the "working Capital" of the US from DC to Omaha, Nebraska. And it's not that I hate Omaha all that much, but it's a lot closer to the "middle" of the country than any place else I can think of, in just about every way I can imagine.

And the parking lots are epic.

Keep DC as a symbolic totem.

1 "And the parking lots are epic."

There has to be a word to describe a statement that perfectly describes something, yet is still an understatement. That was beautiful, almost a haiku.

2 "I'm also beginning to think that, at least as an organizing principle, we ought to start pushing to change the "working Capital" of the US from DC to Omaha, Nebraska."

It would put them closer to those disaster prone red states.

3 Yea, but see, actus .... that's part of our neo-con agenda. Now that you've figured it out, we'll have to change our evil plans.

4 Disaster prone red states eh? Soooo then, Kalifornistan is a red state now, as about 90% of all North American natural disasters happen there?
By the way, rectus, I can imagine what you would sound like if you spoke those words, and my bet is that your a lisper.

5 i worry more each day that goes by if there will be a civil war in the US...i mean, the left gets more and more aggressive and nasty with each passing incident, and they also get more crazy and desperate as well...something has to give some day soon...the pressure is building up in this country, gas prices, the war on terror, hurricane damage in the south, etc...the left attacks everything that moves and blames Bush for everything it seems....its absolutelty apparent that these people{leftists/liberals} have gone completly insane in their hate for Bush and America in general...i never thought id live to see this come to pass and i worry what the world will be like for all our children...its scary

6 You think we're at war, but you won't elaborate as to why?

Thanks a lot, buddy.

(Psst...you can tell me!)

Disaster prone blue states too. Easy to go get a photo op.

8 Ordinarily I would blow this off. After watching the racist comments on TV about the help going to New Orleans, I am leaning your way.

9 Doc - You would like Lincoln better. It is a "college town". But if you love America and hate liberals maybe not.

10 I'm not worried that there'll be a civil war; I'm counting on it, it's the only way we'll ever get rid of the liberals, muslims, hippies, and other scum that are trying to kill our great nation. Considering that most gun owners are on "our side", I'm not really worried about who'll win, but I do wonder what we'll do with all the stinking corpses, because there'll be millions of 'em.

11 Rod - - UN is not nearly as anti America as UC or its branches in LA, Santa Cruz or Santa KBarbara. More like an Ivy League America hater.

12 Sorry, but all of the pointy headed pseudointellectual preening gasbags can stay in DC, they ain't coming to my town.

I should smack you for even suggesting it.

There's really only one comparable situation: the Copperhead movement during the US Civil War, when folks had the same over-the-top reaction to Lincoln.

14 You think we're at war, but you won't elaborate as to why?

Well, I'll put it this way: There's a reason why Rusty needs to remain anonymous.

Posted by: Demosophist at September 04, 2005 12:00 AM (Rf4h1)

15 But you could prepare them a warm welcome, Vinnie. Very warm. I suggest a ring of ditches around the city, filled with gas and diesel, and concealed until they are right on top of them, but hey, use whatcha got.

I don't know, you might actually like some of the intellectuals at AEI, Heritage, etc. Truth is, must of the real gasbags are at places like Harvard, UCSD, etc.

17 Gasbags. I like that. I think I'll be using it myself in the future.

Nin and I will be selling everything when we're ready to retire. Make ourselves totally liquid and move to Oregon. I know there are a lot of gasbags in Oregon, but there are also a lot of places to hide from them.

And on a side note - if it ever did come to war here, I'd definately want IM on my side.

Your panties are really tied up in a bunch heh?

Posted by: actus at September 04, 2005 10:33 AM (QPrcU)

19 My panties are in a bunch? Is that honestly the best you can do rectus? Jesus H., you people just suck at any sort of substantive debate, don't you? Come on now, don't you even have a little Marxist dialectic for me? Not even something about the intelligentsia saving the proles from the filthy bourgeois capitalist Joooooooz? Hell, you didn't even mention Chimpy McHallibushitler. No Rovian conspiracies? Nothing about Big Oil? No Black Helicoptersâ„¢? What's the matter with you? You're not a very good liberal, are you?

Posted by: Improbulus Maximus at September 04, 2005 07:22 PM (0yYS2)

20 "Jesus H., you people just suck at any sort of substantive debate, don't you?

Whats the substantive debate on your little civil war? Panties in a bunch is really the only explanation.

"Come on now, don't you even have a little Marxist dialectic for me?"

That would be substantive to you?

"What's the matter with you? You're not a very good liberal, are you?"

I do hope you fight your civil war my friend. I really really do. Can you start with me?

22 Thanks for the offer, but I don't know where you live, and it probably isn't close to me, so I doubt it. Fact is, you'll probably be killed by a gang of rampaging savages long before you ever meet someone like me, that is unless you run to us for protection, which you probably will, as it's always the big bad evil white men with guns that have to sort things out when it all goes to shit.

23 "Thanks for the offer, but I don't know where you live, and it probably isn't close to me, so I doubt it."

I live in DC. Come start your civil war in my neighborhood. There are some big bad men here for you.
